Abstract
Improvements made to the object of the main patent no. 361,378, filed on December 13, 1968 by PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYESTERS, by heating at temperatures between 150 and 250ºC of at least one acid component of the group of low dialkyl esters molecular weight of a difunctional aromatic dicarboxylic acid, containing 1 to 2 benzene rings and 8 to 20 carbon atoms, of the same aromatic dicarboxylic acid, of the low molecular weight dialkyl ester of a difunctional aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms, and of the same aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (a), with at least one difunctional glycol from the group of alkanediols containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms, diethylene glycol, 1,4-bis- (hydroxymethyl) -cyclohexane and 2,2-bis- (4'-β-hydroxyethoxyphenyl) -propane (b) with elimination of low molecular weight alkanol and water, with formation of essentially monomeric diglycolic esters, heating or of said diglycolic ester in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst with separation by distillation of excess glycol and formation of polyester at temperatures between 200 and 350ºC, preferably between 250 and 300ºC, characterized in that said polycondensation catalyst contains titanium metal in the form of powder.
