An oil scraper assembly for a piston-rod 12 comprises a split main ring 2 and a split scraper ring 6 having two axially spaced annular scraper edges 18, 20 projecting from a base portion 7 housed in a groove 14 in or located on a rib on the inner surface of the ring 2 and having a cross-sectional area less than that of the ring 2, the edges 18, 20 being urged against the rod by rosilient means, e.g. a spring 10. The rings 2 and 6 are each split into three segments and the spring 10 is housed in a groove 8 in the ring 2. The groove 14 has a recessed middle portion 16 providing seatings 17 for the base portion 7 which has an axial clearance in the groove 14. Oil drainage holes 22 and 24 in the rings 6 and 2 respectively are interconnected by the recess 16. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the scraper edges are formed by lamellas 30 removably or permanently fitted in grooves in the ring 6.
