Abstract
In a Diesel engine fuel injection control system including an electronic governor 34 and a fuel injection pump 10, the position of the regulating element 17 of the pump is represented as an electrical signal dependent upon the inductance of a coil 19, the speed of the engine is represented by an electrical signal from a transmitter 21, and a device 35 e.g. operable by the accelerator pedal, also provides an electrical signal, all three signals being applied to the governor 34, which correlator all three signals. If, for example, the speed set by the accelerator pedal does not correspond to the actual speed of the engine, the governor produces an output signal which operates a solenoid valve 23 to increase or decrease the pressure of fluid, e.g. the fuel itself, in a chamber 12, and thus the position of the regulating element 17, via a rod 14 connected to a diaphragm closing off the chamber, and a bell-crank 16, until the desired and actual engine speeds are the same. The devices described are enclosed in a housing 11 provided with a cover (24), Fig. 1 and 2 (not shown) on the inside of which is mounted a printed circuit board (25) by which contacts to the governor are made, the coils 19, solenoid valve 23, and transmitter 21 being connected to the printed circuit via spring devices (26).
