Abstract

A probe 3, sensitive to deviations of a burner flame 2 from its optimum condition, is connected to the gate 7 of a field-effect transistor 8 of the enhancement type, the output from the drain 9 of which is amplified, via a resistor 22, by a transistor 11 which trips a relay 15 when the voltage applied to the base 10 of the transistor exceeds a substantially constant threshold value. The relay 15 controls fuel or air supply to the burner 1. The high sensitivity of the device may be reduced by the insertion of a Zener diode 18 or a voltage-dependent resistance (not shown) in front of the FET 8.
