Abstract

Improvements in the construction of compressors and expansion mechanisms, characterized in that each device is provided with a box; a pair of cooperating gear elements mounted to rotate in said case; alternately spaced lobes on said gears, having a front side face facing the direction of movement of said gears and a rear side face facing against the direction of movement of said gears; gear cavities between said lobes; intake duct means in communication with an intake area in said box; exit or discharge means in communication with a discharge area of said box; means for separating parts of said gear cavities from direct communication with said intake and discharge zone as said gears rotate, and means providing restricted communication between said discharge zone and said gear cavities before said gear cavities are directly exposed to said discharge area.
