Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R is Ph, chlorophenyl, Ph-alkyl, alkyl or heterocyclyl, and the fused benzene ring, Ph or chlorophenyl may be substituted by halogen, alkoxy, OH, CF 3 , alkyl or amino. These compounds, prepared by reducing the corresponding imidazoisoindolone with LiAlH 4 , may be rearranged to the 2-(2-aminoethyl)-3-R-phthalimidine (by acid treatment, or heating in an alkanol), and the latter may be hydrogenated to the 1-R- 2(2-aminoethyl)isoindoline. Therapeutic and veterinary compositions for oral or parenteral administration comprise compounds of the above formula, which are anorexiants, in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
