Abstract

Electric terminals 10 on a connection board 4, 6 for multicore telephone cables each comprises plates 12, 14, plate 14 having slots 25 whose edges pierce the insulation and contact the central conductors of cores inserted in the slots and plate 12 having an edge 30 on which the unwanted ends of the cores may be trimmed down. A further plate 16 has slightly wider slots so that a although it does not contact the conductor of a core, it does pierce the insulation, and thus provides a strain-relief device., - A tool '(Figs. 6, 7, not shown) having a head provided with spaced parallel arms may be used for driving in and severing a core. Plate 16 may have an integral tongue which may be connected to a printed circuit. The terminals 10 are formed from sheet metal, and selected ones may be interconnected. Terminals TO are secured by legs 17, 19 between a ribbed frame 6 and a similarly ribbed base 4, of acrylonitrilebutadiene-styrene, which are held together by latches (68, 69, Fig. 2, not shown). Latches (78) are provided for a detachable cover. Entry ports (58) for the telephone cables have recesses (92, Figs. 11, 12, not shown) for securing cable clamping clips (84). In a further embodiment (Figs. 13-21, not shown) a base (98) mounts a perpendicularly projecting frame by latches (102). The frame comprises a stack of columns (104) latched together, which have slots (112) for mounting double-ended -terminals (150), each end of which is similar to terminal 10 (Fig. 3). The ends may be angled away from the base. Alternatively (Figs. 22- 24, not shown), the severing edge may be removed from one end so that a core may interconnect a plurality of terminals.
