Abstract
Partial vaporization of L.N.G. is effected by pressurizing at 4 the feed in line 3 to about 450 p.s.i., heating the pressurized liquid feed from -250 to -58 F. in heat exchangers 8, 10, 16, 20 traversed by relatively warm recycled gas obtained as hereinafter described, flashing at 22 into a first drum 24, withdrawing liquid bottoms at 48 and flashing into a second drum 52, withdrawing the bottoms at 88 and warming a portion thereof in a first heat exchanger 90 traversed by hot gas reformed at 80 as hereinafter described and in a second heat exchanger 46 traversed by a mixture of effluent withdrawn at 26 from drum 24, cooled in exchanger 10, thereby warming feed liquid and of effluent withdrawn at 62 from a fractionating column 60 hereinafter referred to, said mixture of effluents then being pressurized at 40 to 1000 p.s.i. before traversing heat exchanger 46 and being fed into a product line 47, whilst the so-warmed bottoms leaving exchanger 46 are fed through a line 92, the heat exchanger 20 and are added to the bottoms from drum 24, for passage into drum 52 the remainder of the bottoms from 52 together with effluent from 52 being passed to the column 60 from which liquid C 3 + hydrocarbons are withdrawn at 74 and after traversing a reboiler 76 a portion is fed through a line 79 to a conventional reformer 80 yielding mostly hot methane and hydrogen which is used to warm exchanger 90 and is thereafter compressed to 1000 p.s.i. at 87 and is added to the line 47 containing pressurized effluent withdrawn from 24, 60.
