Abstract

In Examples 10-13 and 111 azo dyes which contain pentadienoylamino-groups are homo- or co-polymerized to form coloured polymers. Polymerization is effected by heating in diethyleneglycol-dimethyl ether optionally in presence of [alpha]-[alpha]1-azobisisobutyronitrile, or in methyl methacrylate containing [alpha]-[alpha]1-azobisisobutyronitrile or in aqueous dioxan under nitrogen in presence of ammonium persulphate and sodium metabisulphite. The homopolymers may be incorporated in polyethylene.
