Abstract

Vapour to be condensed is introduced through inlet 29 into housing 28, and cooling liquid is injected into the housing through openings 32 so that the liquid forms a rising film 33 which strikes deflection device 34 and is reversed in direction whereby droplets of cooling liquid fall in the form of a sheet 35 the vapour first contacts sheet 35 and the non-condensed vapour, passing through the spray, contacts and condenses on the rising film 33 of cooling liquid. As shown, film 33 and sheet 35 have conical shape. Another condenser is described wherein a plurality of flat films of cooling liquid are injected upwards into the housing and, after deflection, fall as flat sheets of spray.
