Abstract

The diagrid 2, carrying the nuclear reactor core 1, is supported on the concrete 10 by the concentric shells 7. Thermal dimensional changes are accommodated by shoes 13, 15 and slide plates 14 and 11. The base of the two containing vessels 4, 5 may be displaced relatively to each other by a lateral movement over the plates 11, 14. The thermal changes occur laterally in radial directions from the central pivot 6. The shoes are metallic or of graphite. The slide plates, 11, may be provided with level adjusting screws which engage the heat insulating bricks 9. In an alternative form two sets of shells are employed, one set mounted above the other.
