Abstract
In a phase-shift telegraphy system wherein the carrier signal is either in phase or in quadrature phase, a local oscillator 6 is synchronized to the carrier frequency by means of two multipliers 5 and 7 to which the input signals are applied and which are supplied with in-phase and quadrature phase signals from the oscillator 6, the outputs of the multipliers being combined in a linear adder unit 9 and fed through a narrow-band filter 10 to control the frequency of oscillator 6. The output of unit 9 also supplies the demodulated output via a wider band filter 11. The phase shift unit 8 preferably alters the phase of the local oscillator in the opposite direction from that in which the carrier phase is shifted by the modulation.
