Abstract

A vibrating motor has two roller bearings 7 keyed on its shaft 5 to absorb radial forces and a ball bearing 8 with deep sockets is provided to absorb the axial thrust. Eccentrics formed of upper and lower blocks 9, 9a, 10, 10a are fixed respectively to the ends of the shaft and are adjustable to obtain the resultant of the forces produced thereby to pass substantially through the plane of the bracket 3 connecting the motor by inclined surfaces 3a to the device 6 to be vibrated. The two blocks 9, 9a are freely rotatable on the shaft 5 and are locked in position by spring-loaded pegs 14, 15 engaging in one of a number of holes 11 in the block 9a and are of a number of peripheral notches 16 in a disc 12 keyed to the shaft 5. Block 10 is keyed to the shaft 10 while the block 10a is freely rotatable thereon and locked in position by a peg 19 engaging in a hole 20 of a disc 22 freely rotatable on bush 18 and in turn locked in position by a peg 24 engaging in one of a number of peripheral notches 25 in a disc 23 fixed to the shaft. A rod 27 fixed to the disc 22 by a cupel 26 can be pulled upwards and rotated by a knob 28 moving over a scale to free the peg 24 from a notch 25 and angularly adjust the block 10a.
