Abstract

An elastomer latex is mixed with less than 1% of the weight of the elastomer of a water-soluble polyether of molecular weight 4000-27,000 and with a solvent for the elastomer. To further aid the transfer of the elastomer from the latex to the solvent an acid such as sulphuric or formic acid may also be admixed. The polyether is preferably a product based on polyethylene oxide or polypropylene oxide, although polyvinyl methyl ether can be used. The composition may also contain plasticizers, extender oils, carbon black and other elastomers.
