Abstract

An oil preheater comprises a pair of oilcarrying flat spiral tubes 5, 6, joined together at one end and a heating plate 1 sandwiched between them. The sensor 2 of a thermostat 3 is urged into engagement with the heating pate 1 and one of the spiral tubes 5 by a spring 4. The heating plate comprises a mica former wound with resistance wire between external mica sheets. A copper easing encloses the heating plate. Sheet-metal casings, e.g. 15, cover the spiral tubes 5, 6 and are pressed towards each other by disc springs and pressure plates so that the tubes 5, 6 make good thermal contact with the heating plate 1. A starting thermostat 25 allows the oil burner to be brought into action at a predetermined temperature.
