Abstract

Compositions effective as herbicides comprise a urocil of the general formula or the corresponding isometric general formula in which each of the R radicals is the same or different and is C 3-8 alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, C 5-8 cycloalkyl or methyl- or methoxy-substituted C 5-8 cyoloalkyl, each of the R 1 radicals may be the same or different and is C 1-3 alkyl, each, of the X radicals may be the same or different and is chlorine, bromine, iodine or methyl or when the R radical on the same ring is a substituted or an unsubstituted cycloalkyl radical, a hydrogen atom or a X radical and a R 1 radical on the same ring together form a trimethylene or tetramethylene radical and Z is a 1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydrophthaloyl radical or - CO -, - COCO -, - CHR 2 CO- in which R 2 is hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl or - COR 3 CO- in which R 3 is C 1-12 alkylene, C 1-12 alkylene, cyclohexylene, or phenylene as the active ingredient are made up in combination with a carrier or a diluent e.g. clay, diatomaceous earths, silica, silicates, sulphates, sulphonates, polyethers, cellulose derivatives, organic solvents, wetting agents or a dispersing agent in the forms of dusts, granules suitably of 15-30 mesh, pellets, emulsions, water-dispersible powders, high-strength concentrates and solutions or dispersions in organic liquids. The compositions may in addition include another substance known for use as a herbicide.
