Abstract

A windscreen wiper harness 10 comprises a number of pressure-transmitting members 18, 19, 21, 22 which distribute pressure from a wiper arm attachment point to a number of points 13-17 along a backing strip 11 for the rubber 12, the members 18, 19 each consisting of two generally parallel rods 25, 26 and the members 21, 22 being made of sheet metal. The members 18, 19 extend from a central pivot 20 whilst the member 22 is also pivoted at 20 and extends from the point 17 to the middle of the member 21. The member 21 extends between the points 15, 16 and both members 21, 22 have a V-shaped cross-section. Notches are cut in the backing strip to reduce its weight and one end is formed with a downturned bridge 31. A latch member 33 prevents the rubber moving axially out of the backing strip and the construction of the harness reduces the effects of lift due to air flowing over a vehicle windscreen.
