Abstract

A method for producing heat from high moisture content fuel, such as bagasse or bark, characterized by the combination of the following operations: (a) establishing a primary air flow to be fed to a combustión chamber; (b) dosing the fuel at a predetermined flow rate in said primary air flow exteriorly to said chamber; (c) maintaining in said flow an adequate pressure to pneumatically transport the metered fuel and to deliver it directly to said combustión chamber, said fuel having essentially the same moisture content as when it was introduced into said primary air; and (d) introducing heated secondary air into said combustión chamber and mixing it therein with the fuel mixture and primary air, said secondary air being introduced in a manner and at a temperature to create turbulence in said chamber and to first effect the drying of the fuel in suspension and then the combustión in suspension thereof, on a self-maintenance basis.
