Improvements in material reduction mills, of the type comprising a cylindrical drum whose length is less than half the diameter, wedging linings in the internal terminal walls of said drum, with wedging faces which, together with the inner face of the cylindrical wall and the parts radially more outwardly of the faces of the end walls, form a wedging zone inside said mill, this mill being characterized in that the wedging zone has a diameter, between the innermost ends of said wedging faces, of at least eight feet and in which the face of the peripheral wall is provided with wear-resistant means, adapted to present to said wedging area a generally cylindrical surface, the only discrepancies of the cylindrical surface being of a secondary nature for the purpose of improving the wear characteristics of it.
