Abstract

A microwave frequency multiplying arrangement comprises a T-shaped conducting member whose cross-bar carries a semi-conductor variable capacity diode at each end, the member being mounted at the junction of two waveguides, or a waveguide and a coaxial cable, which are dimensioned to suit the input frequency F and the output frequency 2F respectively. As shown, the base of the T-member is connected to the centre of the long side of the input waveguide, and the diodes are connected to the earth of the waveguide by means of capacitors C, C1 formed by apertures in the walls and shunting resistors R 1 . In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown), in which the cross-bar is parallel to the long side of output waveguide and the short side of the input waveguide the diodes are connected in opposition. The Specification discloses arrangements using one waveguide with one coaxial cable.
