Abstract

O.o - t - butyl - o - isopropylpercarbonate of the formula <FORM:1024028/C3/1> is used for vulcanizing siloxane gums. The siloxanes disclosed contain Si-bonded saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon radicals. The percarbonate is used in amount of 0.1 to 10% by weight of the siloxane. Fillers, e.g. reinforcing SiO2 (which may be surface modified with an organosilicon compound), co-aser SiO2, ground quartz, Al2O3, TiO2, CaCO3, CaSo4, Fe oxides and C blacks, and an antithixotropic agent, e.g. (tetramethyl-ethylenedioxy) dimethylsilane, may also be added. Vulcanization is effected by heating, preferably at 130 DEG to 300 DEG C. Examples are given.
