Process for the stereospecific polymerization of alpha-olefins; more particularly, it relates to a method for regulating the molecular weight in the polymerization of propylene. It is known that by polymerizing alpha-olefins in the presence of very stereospecific catalysts based on metallo-organic compounds of metals belonging to groups i, ii or iii of the mendeleev periodic system and transition metal halides, polymers of very high molecular weight are obtained. Up to now, various methods for regulating the molecular weight of the alpha-olefin polymers obtained in the presence of said catalyst systems have been described. In one such method, the molecular weight of the polymers is regulated by the introduction of gaseous hydrogen into the polymerization reactor.
