Abstract

Device for automatic adjustment of a clutch or brake control cable 10, of the type comprising a housing 21 and two telescopic elements 33, 34 for transmitting a control force F2 which are arranged in the housing 21 in which one element 33 is mounted with axial displacement while the other element is a nut 34 screwed onto a thread 38 and receiving the thrust from an adjusting spring 41, characterised in that the element 33 mounted with axial displacement in the housing 21 possesses a serrated surface 35 which interacts with a complementary serration 26 carried by the housing during actuating of the cable in order to prevent rotation of the said element during its axial displacement and is received at rest in a housing 27 adjacent to the complementary serration 26 in order to permit free rotation of this element, and a threaded surface 38 which interacts with a complementary tapping 39 carried by the nut 34 immobilised in rotation, this threaded surface 38 partly unscrewing from the tapping 39 when, in the rest position, the return force F1 is greater than the thrust of the adjusting spring 41.
