Abstract

A bone implant is designed as a shaft prosthesis with a neck support. The support surface of the neck support is designed as a rotational surface which preferably comprises annular elevations and depressions. In order to produce a support surface on the bone having the same shape a tool is provided which comprises a tool holder having a shaft resembling the prosthesis shaft and a bearing journal, as well as a milling cutter rotatable on the bearing journal. The milling cutter has a milling surface corresponding to the support surface of the neck support. By first inserting the tool holder after preparation of the medullary canal for accommodation of the prosthesis and by then milling the bone support surface, a true correspondence of shape with the support surface provided on the neck support is achieved.
