Object of the invention

The present invention refers to a collection of supports for the exhibition of books in the field of museography (hereinafter Exibitia Lectus), which has been conceived and made in order to obtain numerous and notable advantages over other supports for existing books in the market .

The Exibitia Lectus is designed to simplify the assembly and exhibition of books in the field of museography. Exibitia Lectus is a system of removable standard supports that can be stored in a minimum space, they do not need to be assembled by qualified personnel and when manufactured in an industrial way, they guarantee the uniformity of all the supports. The Exibitia Lectus supports are made up of four pieces that fit together without being fixed by means of adhesives forming an element of support for the exhibition of a book (this piece in the museographic field is known as a bed or sofa). Exibitia Lectus support meets all the requirements demanded in the field of museography and book conservation.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Various media for book exposure in the commercial and domestic sphere are known. In the field of museography the use of supports to display open books has many antecedents, and although there are some commercial elements that can be more or less versatile and adaptable to the different exhibition needs and sizes of the books, most of these supports are designed made to measure and are built explicitly for each copy as they must meet various requirements related to the conservation of books. We do not find any background of supports that, fulfilling the conservation requirements of the museographic area, can be disassembled and stored in the minimum space and that do not need adhesives or other fixation systems for their assembly.

Description of the invention

The object of the invention is a product, formed by four elements (Figure 1. A, B, C and D) that fit together in a certain order to form a stable support to place open books on top. According to heritage conservation standards, books must be displayed in an opening no higher than 90 degrees between their exposed pages to guarantee the stability and conservation of the binding. In certain bindings and copies can open up to 120 degrees.

The collection of supports Exibitia Lectus presents several models in which respecting the opening angles of the books, these are exposed with the two pages exposed in identical inclination, support 45/90/45 (figure 2) or with one of them more exposed that the other, support 60/90/30 (figure 3).

Each support consists of 4 pieces (figure 4 and 5): lower crosshead (A), upper crosshead (B), mounting blade (C) and blocking blade (D), which can be mounted between them following the order marked in the pieces forming a rigid and stable object that guarantees the correct exposition of the book fulfilling the conservation requirements.

Exibitia Lectus models are manufactured in standard sizes that cover different book sizes, and the same design and system can be made to order by adjusting the dimensions for specific books.

Description of a preferred embodiment

The present invention is intended to be performed using numerical control machining cutting technology (either mechanical or laser cutting) since it requires precision of tenths of a millimeter so that the fittings between the different pieces are adequate and the final object is stable.

The preferred material to ensure that the support is chemically stable from the point of view of the conservation of the books is the methacrylate (MMA), and within the various methacrylates, the casting (PMMA). This material, thanks to its manufacturing process, is free of internal tensions, which facilitates its machining. The cast methacrylate, in addition to complying with the conservation requirements, guarantees the stability of the assembly due to its physical characteristics, and the possibility of assembling and disassembling the object of the invention to be reused as many times as necessary.

The methacrylate in plate is marketed in different colors, being the preferred for the manufacture the transparent because it is the one that least interferes visually with the book and can better adapt to the showcases or exhibitors used.

Another material that can be used as a direct support is the cardboard of conservation commercialized high grammage and in thicknesses that guarantee the stability of the final product. For the manufacture of Exibitia Lectus in this material the same technology described or the cut by means of dies can be used.

Claims (2)

1. Supports for the exhibition, in the exhibition area, of open books, which are characterized by being assembled and disassembled without the need for tools or fasteners or adhesives. These supports are composed of four different flat pieces, mechanized by numerical control (either mechanical or laser cutting) (A, B, C and D), which thanks to their design, described below, are assembled together, as a three-dimensional puzzle, resulting in stable supports for the exhibition of open books. Of the four pieces, there are two of them with rectangular shape, called shovels (C and D), and two others with irregular shape which we call crossheads (A and B). Crosshead A has three grooves in its inclined edges, two of them wider and shorter and one narrower and longer, which runs vertically towards the base of the piece. The crosshead B presents at the union of its inclined edges two grooves identical to the wide grooves of the crosshead A, and at the base of the piece a third groove perpendicular to the base of the piece. These pieces are characterized because when they are joined by the narrow and vertical grooves to the base of the piece they form a crosspiece, which is the support base of the support. Of the rectangular pieces, which we call shovels (C and D), piece C has a longitudinal groove, parallel to one of its longer sides and piece D has a machined flange that protrudes from one of its longer sides, which has the right measure to enter the longitudinal slot of the blade C. Both blades rest on the inclined edges of the cross formed by the pieces A and B, staying in the wide slots of these to form the resting or support area of the cover of the book. These supports are easily assembled and disassembled, if desired, which can be stored in the minimum space and be reused as many times as necessary. The supports once assembled comply with all the conservation standards that are required in the exhibition area. Supports according to claim 1 in which the parts called blades (C and D) once assembled in the wide grooves of the crosspieces (A and B) and with each other, after inserting the machined flange of the part D in the groove longitudinal part C, leave their two short edges and one free long, which allows to raise slightly the free parts of each blade of the crossarms, with the aim of facilitating, if desired or if it is considered appropriate, the support and stabilization of the sheets of books exposed by Milar strips or similar material.
