Abstract

A brush holder comprises mounting plate (10), housing (12) for brushes (14, 16), brackets (36, 38) for fixed contacts (32, 34), and, secured to the other side of the mounting plate, an electrical assembly, such as a voltage regulator (18), whose connections are connected to the fixed contacts (32, 34). So that contacts (32, 34) can already be connected to connections (26, 27) of the electrical assembly before it is fitted to plate (10), plate (10) is provided with at least one edge recess (54) intersecting openings (30, 40) for the passage of the connections (26, 27, 28) of assembly (18) through the plate (10) and enabling them to be introduced from the edge (56) of plate (10). The mounting plate (10) may have hub-like raised portion (72) carrying sealing element (76), preferably an O-ring, which abuts the wall of an installation opening. Closure piece (58) may be provided.
