Abstract
Un método de obtener tetraciclina por fermentación sumergida, en condiciones aeróbicas, caracterizado porque el procedimiento de biosíntesis se realiza a una temperatura de 30-32º C., en 34-40 horas, empleando la cepa 88 de la especie Streptomyces, que sobre un sustrato que tiene un pH de 5,0-7,2, que contiene fuentes de carbono, nitrógeno y sales minerales asimilables y, entre otros componentes, productos de avena, produce, sin inhibidores de cloración, exclusivamente, y con gran rendimiento, tetraciclina, que se aísla del sustrato fermentado, pero, si los productos de avena faltan en el sustrato, dicha cepa produce tetraciclina, cloro-tetraciclina y otros dos antibióticos no identificados.
