The state of the art related to functional clothing for wheelchair users is extensive, there are numerous designs of different garments whose purpose is to improve the quality of life of wheelchair users in their daily activity.

Like any person, people with reduced mobility are able to perform physical sports activity, using wheelchairs adapted for this purpose on certain occasions.

However, sports practice, when it reaches the competition sport category forces wheelchair users to use parts of their body in extreme conditions. This is the case of sports, such as basketball or paddle, in which to reduce the speed or stop the wheelchair or change its direction, its user uses parts of his body, usually the forearm, which due the friction with the wheel is inevitably injured.

To brake the wheels of a wheelchair there are several mechanisms that, incorporating them into the wheelchairs, help the user in his sports practice. However, the regulations of the official federations are very strict, preventing the incorporation of these mechanisms to the wheelchairs of competition.

Therefore, the only innovations that we could introduce to improve sports practice will be those practiced on the athlete's clothing. Most sports regulations allow players to use physical protections, provided these protections do not provide the user with an unfair advantage over other players.

Because to date there is no specific garment that minimizes the negative effects of the friction of the forearm of the wheelchair user with the wheels of these, some of the athletes, according to their scope (basketball, paddle, speed, etc. ), employ various elements such as wristbands, compression sleeves and even long-sleeved shirts. However, none of these elements are optimized for this purpose, since the material they are made of deteriorates easily with friction, being insufficient to avoid its painful effects on the athlete's skin.

In the same way, not only athletes, but any wheelchair user, when they have to descend a slope or their chair takes some speed, in addition to their hands they use the front part of their forearm to reduce speed, and they are not always able to avoid harming yourself.

That is why the invention arises to avoid physical damages that occur in multiple braking situations, when the wheelchair user uses his forearm for this purpose

Description of the invention

The forearm protective sleeve is a garment that allows any wheelchair user to minimize and even avoid the damage caused by the friction of the back face of the forearm, when they use this part of their body to reduce speed or slow down the chair. wheels.

The use of the forearm as a brake on the wheels of a wheelchair, and the consequent damage caused to the fabric of this area, has a special impact on athletes, who are often forced to use this part of their body as a brake, by not allowing the respective regulations of sports that practice the incorporation of innovations on the chair, which avoid the need to use the forearm as a brake.

The proposed protective sleeve consists of a tubular-shaped support structure, which has on its outside an insert of friction-resistant material and two fasteners at its ends that will allow the sleeve to be attached to the user's forearm.

The cuff is completely anatomical and adapts perfectly to the user's forearm. The material that shapes the cuff must be flexible and not prevent the joint movement of the elbow and wrist in the realization of movements, as well as the transpiration and its drying during use, both in the sports field and in the everyday, from here that the material proposed for its manufacture is a polymer whose trade name is neoprene, or a copollomer whose trade name is lycra.

On the back of the forearm, specifically the area of friction of the forearm of the user with the wheel of the chair, this sleeve has inserts of a friction resistant material. Said material must be consistent and not very degradable when in contact with the rubber of the wheelchair, features present in the materials proposed for its manufacture: the RYTON ULTEM although its price is quite high and the anti-caloric ABS since this is more affordable in question of price and for this case it is also recommended.
