Un microorganismo del genero Cupriavidus o Ralstonia modificado geneticamente para expresar la fosfomanosa isomerasa (EC 5.3.1.8) y la proteina de difusion facilitada para la captacion de manosa y opcionalmente la manofructoquinasa (EC 2.7.1.4), en donde dicho microorganismo tiene la capacidad de desarrollarse en manosa y opcionalmente tambien en glucosa como fuente de carbono.
