La mayorla de los sistemas portables existentes en la actualidad para la medida y monitorizacion de la actividad flsica de personas estan orientados a su aplicacion en actividades deportivas. Estos sistemas registran diversas variables como pulso cardiaco, pasos o distancia recorrida, geolocalizacion o la duracion y estimation del consumo energetico (kcal) asociado al ejercicio. Por lo general son dispositivos integrados en elementos como relojes, pulseras o telefonos moviles que requieren interaction del usuario para la obtencion de la information, con la finalidad principalmente de registrar information para la posterior visualization por parte del usuario de su actividad flsica, con bajo analisis inteligente de la informacion. Por otro lado, estos sistemas de monitorizacion presentan baja autonomla, inferior en ocasiones a 1 semana, por lo que es necesario su continua recarga.Most of the portable systems currently available for the measurement and monitoring of physical activity of people are oriented to its application in sports activities. Sin embargo diversos estudios y trabajos de investigation han puesto de manifiesto la importancia y capacidad de monitorizar personas mayores a traves de la medida de su comportamiento, si bien, tal y como se ha mencionado anteriormente, los dispositivos disponibles hoy en dla para este tipo de mediciones no responden a las exigencias y necesidades de este segmento de mercado, que requiere que ademas de ser portable, cuente con una autonomla de meses para posibilitar que la monitorizacion de su comportamiento se lleve a cabo de un modo no invasivo y transparente al usuario, es decir, sin que sea consciente de tal monitorizacion y por lo tanto que no exija su atencion ni interaccion con el dispositivo.Currently the existing devices and services in the market for the monitoring of older people are mainly based on two types of systems: the monitoring of medical variables through health sensors and the use of systems such as panic button for emergency delivery through your pulsation. La utilization del estimador de la actividad flsica basado unicamente en medidas de la aceleracion, asl como la aplicacion de tecnicas de comunicacion oportunistas, aseguran muy bajos consumos energeticos del dispositivo, permitiendo una autonomla del dispositivo portable de meses mediante la utilizacion de baterlas convencionales.
