Abstract
Un sistema para reducir el voltaje de un suministro eléctrico de CA a una carga para el propósito de eficiencia de energía, el sistema comprende: a) un transformador (13) que tiene bobinados primarios y secundarios en circuito entre un suministro eléctrico de CA y la carga, y b) medios de derivación para provocar que el transformador se retire del circuito y para provocar que el suministro eléctrico se conecte directamente a la carga en el evento de una sobrecarga predeterminada del transformador; caracterizado porque c) los medios de derivación comprenden: i) un conmutador (S) de derivación para desviar el suministro directamente a la carga, ii) medios (14) para determinar la temperatura del transformador, iii) medios (17) para medir la corriente eléctrica a través de la carga, iv) medios (15) de control para recibir señales de la temperatura que determina los medios y de los medios de medición de corriente, y para operar el conmutador de derivación a un nivel máximo predeterminado de uno cualquiera de dicha temperatura y corriente; y en que el sistema comprende adicionalmente: d) medios a prueba de fallas para interrumpir corriente a través del bobinado secundario del transformador en el evento que el conmutador de derivación falle para operar en uno cualquiera de dichos niveles máximos predeterminados, en donde los medios a prueba de fallas incluyen i) un dispositivo disparador térmico (TCO) conectado al bobinado secundario del transformador y adaptado para interrumpir la conexión del bobinado secundario del transformador al suministro a una temperatura elevada predeterminada del transformador después de un periodo predeterminado; y ii) un fusible (F2) conectado en serie con el suministro y el dispositivo disparador térmico y adaptado para interrumpir la conexión del bobinado secundario del transformador al suministro a un nivel predeterminado de corriente elevada por debajo de una clasificación de corriente máxima del dispositivo disparador térmico.
