Abstract

Some terminal blocks, e.g. as used in telephone switching installations use wire guides with channels to guide the wires to the contacts to which they are to be connected. Hitherto these wires were introduced from the sides of the block and emerged at the front or rear sides, but this made the introduction of new conductors difficult when numerous cables and jumpers were present. The terminal block described herein has a stack of flat terminal strips (7) interleaved with the wire guides (8), thereby extending between the front and back plates (3-3') of the block. The wire guides each have channels for the wires each of which is preferably crescent- shaped with both ends (e.g. 5) at the same edge of the wire guide. The wires come in from the front or back, via fingers (24) which together define a cable comb, and each such wire is pushed into one of the channels from which it emerges near the terminal (e.g. 26) to which it is to be connected. The wire is then connected to the terminal, e.g. by insulation displacement.
