Abstract

Apparatus and method for the production of silicon ingots by directional solidification. Apparatus for the production of silicon ingots through directional solidification technology that allows the directional solidification system and the heat exchange method to be used simultaneously. This apparatus allows to optimize the control over the temperature gradient during the crystallization stage and thus increase the quality of the final product. The apparatus has a chamber (5) inside which is arranged at least a central assembly (1) and a lower assembly (4) that are attached to a system of upper movement (6.1) and a system of movement lower (6.2) that allow the necessary displacements. The process for growing polycrystalline silicon ingots from molten silicon is carried out in the described apparatus by combining movements of the elements of the apparatus during the growth phase of the silicon.
