El Instrumento de pintura a la acuarela, es un elemento para el dibujo artístico, destinado a cubrir amplias zonas del papel de acuarela, -o, pequeñas zonas, según el tamaño-, que tiene la característica de llevar incorporada, en un tubo, la acuarela que ha de estampar en el papel. Es así un instrumento semejante a un rotulador, en tanto que está formado por una caña (7) que tiene en su interior un tuba (6) en el que se coloca la tinta o la acuarela (5) disuelta en agua. La caña (7) tiene, en la parte superior, -ver figura nº 1-, un tapón (8) con rosca, que se puede quitar y poner con facilidad para rellenar el tubo interior con la acuarela disuelta en agua o con otro tipo de pintura disuelta en agua. El tuba (6) de la acuarela tiene un estrechamiento en la parte inferior que está en contacto con un tampón (4) de algodón prensado que se llena de acuarela con agua (5) y que sirve de freno para que no se salga toda el agua y el color por el rodillo (I). Debajo del tampón (4) se sitúa una tela de seda –no dibujada en la figura, pero que se puede suponer entre el tampón (4), y el rodillo (1)-, que se humedece lo suficiente como para que el tampón pueda pasar el agua de la acuarela, al rodillo (1). Un eje metálico (2) servirá para que el rodillo pueda girar y este eje estará fijado por un tope en un extremo, y una pequeña tuerca (3) en el otro extremo. El eje atravesará el rodillo por su parte central. Por los extremos, el eje (2) atravesará dos agujeros de la caña (7) para fijar al rodillo en su posición. Hay que añadir que una rosca en la zona (9), -en la parte donde se une el tubo (6) para la acuarela, con el tampón (4)-, servirá para que la caña (7) se pueda separar en dos partes. Esto servirá, también, para que el usuario pueda desmontar a voluntad todo el instrumento cada vez que quiera limpiarlo, o, cada vez que quiera cambiarle el tubo de la tinta, o, de la acuarela. De esta manera, no necesitará comprar otro ejemplar y podrá utilizar el mismo instrumento para rellenar otras zonas del papel, con otro color. Para eso no tendrá más que desenroscar la caña (7), quitar la tuerca (3) y poner bajo el grifo de agua, tanto el rodillo (1) como el tampón (4). El otro método para cambiar de color sería el de poner otra caña con otro tubo (6) y rellenarlo de agua limpia. Se hace pasar el rodillo, entonces, sobre un papel, unas cuantas vueltas, y, el agua limpiaría la acuarela del color anterior que quedase en el rodillo. Después se quitaría el agua y se añadiría otro color. El Instrumento de pintura a la acuarela se presenta en varios tamaños de rodillo para poderlo utilizar en las zonas más estrechas del dibujo.
