Abstract

A continuous casting machine for metals, comprising: means defining a pair of confronting walls of heat-absorbing material that converge in a minimal special relationship and then diverge from each other; means for original circulation at low speed, without turbulence, of molten metal in thermal transfer relationship with the converging parts of said walls in a region close to the point of minimum special relationship, whereby said metal moves with and solidifies on said walls, said walls having sufficient heat absorption capacity to effect the complete solidification of said metal between them, as said walls diverge from each other whereby a solid metal casting emerges between the divergent parts of said walls.
