Description
Revestimientos de vidrio de baja emisividad que presentan una capa de oxinitruro de silicio y procedimientos para su fabricación
[0001] La presente invención se refiere de un modo general a revestimientos para sustratos de vidrio. Más específicamente, la presente invención se refiere a revestimientos para sustrato de vidrio que presentan una baja emisividad (los denominados revestimientos «low-E») y sustancialmente sin características de color.
ANTECEDENTES Y SUMARIO DE LA INVENCIÓN
[0002] Los revestimientos de baja emisividad para vidrio son bien conocidos. A este respecto, las patentes en copropiedad de los Estados Unidos números 5.344.718, 5.425.861, 5.770.321 y 5.800.933 dan a conocer revestimientos formados por un «sistema» de revestimiento de capa múltiple. Generalmente, dichos revestimientos de vidrio de baja emisividad de capa múltiple convencionales presentan una capa de un material dieléctrico transparente (por ejemplo, TiO2, BiO3, PbO o mezclas de estos) adyacente al sustrato de vidrio y una secuencia de múltiples capas de, por ejemplo, Si3N4, níquel (Ni), nicromo (NiCr), nitruro de nicromo (NiCrN) y/o plata (Ag). Estos revestimientos de baja emisividad convencionales son, además, tratables térmicamente; es decir, el revestimiento es capaz de someterse a las temperaturas elevadas que se asocian con procesos convencionales de templado, doblado, endurecimiento térmico o soldadura térmica sin que se afecten adversamente de un modo significativo sus características deseables.
[0003] Mientras que los sistemas convencionales de revestimiento de baja emisividad que se dan a conocer en las patentes de los Estados Unidos citadas anteriormente son satisfactorios, existe generalmente una continua necesidad de mejorar varias propiedades de los sistemas de revestimiento de baja emisividad. Por ejemplo, se desean mejoras continuas en las características de durabilidad y/o de color (o, con más precisión, de falta de color) en los revestimientos de vidrio de baja emisividad. Las mejoras en dichas características son importantes para asegurar que los revestimientos conservan su propiedad de baja emisividad durante prolongados períodos de tiempo (incluso después de que hayan sido sometidos a un ambiente potencialmente abrasivo durante el proceso de fabricación; por ejemplo, el lavado y el cortado de artículos de vidrio que presentan dichos revestimientos de baja emisividad) y que presentan las propiedades de transmisión de la luz deseadas. Para satisfacer dichas necesidades es hacia donde se dirige la presente invención. La invención ofrece una solución según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1 y 7.
[0004] En general, la presente invención se realiza en revestimientos de vidrio de baja emisividad que presentan una durabilidad y transmisividad mejorada.
[0005] Estos y otros aspectos y ventajas se pondrán de manifiesto después de considerar detenidamente la siguiente descripción detallada de las formas de realización ejemplares preferidas de la invención.
BREVE DESCRIPCIÓN DE LOS DIBUJOS ADJUNTOS
[0006] A continuación se hará referencia a los dibujos adjuntos, en los que la figura 1 es una representación esquemática de una sección transversal muy ampliada de un artículo de vidrio con revestimiento superficial según esta invención, que incluye un sustrato de vidrio y un sistema de revestimiento de baja emisividad de capa múltiple revestido sobre una superficie del sustrato de vidrio.
DESCRIPCIÓN DETALLADA DE LA INVENCIÓN
[0007] La figura 1 adjunta describe esquemáticamente una forma de realización particularmente preferida de la presente invención. A este respecto, el revestimiento de baja emisividad de capa múltiple de la presente invención se aplicará necesariamente en un sustrato de vidrio 10 que es, en y de por sí mismo, altamente convencional. Específicamente, el sustrato de vidrio 10 está fabricado más preferiblemente mediante un proceso convencional de flotación y así se conoce coloquialmente como «vidrio flotado». Los espesores típicos de dicho vidrio flotado puede ser de 2 mm a 6 mm, pero se pueden emplear otros espesores de vidrio para los fines de la presente invención. La composición del vidrio que forma el sustrato 10 no es fundamental, pero comúnmente el sustrato de vidrio estará formado por uno de los tipos de vidrio de sosa-cal-sílice bien conocidos por los expertos en la materia.
[0008] El procedimiento y equipo utilizados para formar las múltiples capas que comprenden el revestimiento de baja emisividad de la presente invención pueden ser un sistema de revestimiento por pulverización catódica multicámara (de múltiples blancos) convencional, tal como el que se da a conocer de un modo general en la patente de los Estados Unidos n. º 5.344.718. Un sistema de revestimiento por pulverización catódica 2 5
particularmente preferido es el de Airco, Inc., disponible comercialmente. Como es bien conocido, el sustrato de vidrio 10 se avanza secuencialmente a través de las cámaras o zonas contiguas que presentan atmósferas respectivas para formar capas de revestimiento por pulverización catódica de constitución y espesor deseados.
[0009] Como se describe en la figura 1, un revestimiento de baja emisividad particularmente preferido puede estar formado por las siguientes capas y espesores de capas (identificadas secuencialmente desde la adyacente al sustrato de vidrio 10 hacia fuera):

[0010] La capa de revestimiento inferior (u) de la figura 1 se selecciona de modo que presente un índice de refracción para una longitud de onda de 550 nm de entre 2,5 y 2,6, y preferiblemente aproximadamente 2,52. Preferiblemente, la capa de revestimiento inferior (u) incluye por lo menos un dieléctrico transparente seleccionado entre TiO2, BiO3, PbO y mezclas de estos. Se prefiere especialmente TiO2. El revestimiento inferior
(u) puede ser una capa única de dichos materiales dieléctricos o puede estar comprendido por capas múltiples del mismo material dieléctrico o de distintos.
[0011] A la hora de revestir por pulverización catódica muchas de las capas, se emplean blancos de silicio (Si). Opcionalmente, el Si se puede mezclar con una cantidad de acero inoxidable (por ejemplo, n. º 316) para lograr la cantidad final deseada en la capa de película. Opcionalmente, también se puede emplear aluminio (Al) como dopante en cantidades relativamente pequeñas (por ejemplo, 8 % en peso).
[0012] Es importante para la presente invención que la capa de oxinitruro de silicio (a) se interponga entre la capa inferior de dieléctrico transparente (u) y la capa de nicromo (b). Más preferiblemente, la capa de oxinitruro de silicio (a) se reviste por pulverización catódica en una atmósfera gaseosa formada por nitrógeno, oxígeno y argón, en la que por lo menos del 5 % al 50 %, más preferiblemente aproximadamente un 10 %, del gas es oxígeno. Una atmósfera particularmente preferida para el revestimiento por pulverización catódica de la capa de oxinitruro de silicio (a) es de aproximadamente el 30 % de N2, aproximadamente un 10 % de O2 y aproximadamente un 60 % de Ar2.
[0013] La capa de oxinitruro de silicio (a) es monolítica en su espesor. Es decir, por «monolítica» se entiende que la capa (a) presenta una cantidad sustancialmente uniforme de oxinitruro de silicio entre sus límites interfaciales con las capas (u) y (b), respectivamente. Por tanto, la cantidad de oxinitruro de silicio no cambia perceptiblemente a lo largo de toda la dimensión de espesor de la capa (a).
[0014] La presente invención se entenderá en mayor medida a través del examen pormenorizado de los siguientes ejemplos no limitativos.
Ejemplos
Ejemplo I
[0015] Se aplicó un revestimiento de baja emisividad que comprende las capas (u) a (e) tal como se identifica de un modo general en la figura 1 en un sustrato de vidrio flotado utilizando un equipo de revestimiento por pulverización catódica multicámara (Airco, Inc.) a una velocidad de avance de 4,45 m/min en las siguientes condiciones:

Ejemplo II
[0016] Muestras de prueba de vidrio revestido de 15,2 cm x 43,2 cm cortadas a partir de hojas de vidrio mayores, 4
nominalmente de 2,13 m de ancho y que presentan longitudes que oscilan entre 1,83 m, 3,30 m y 3,66 m preparadas según el Ejemplo I, fueron sometidas a ensayos mecánicos de durabilidad. Específicamente, se pasó cíclicamente un cepillo de nailon de 5,1 cm x 10,2 cm x 2,5 cm por encima de la capa de revestimiento de cada muestra de prueba durante 500 ciclos empleando un peso de 150 gramos. Las muestras de vidrio revestidas de la invención no mostraron daños después de haber sido sometidas a dichos ensayos mecánicos de durabilidad.

- Reivindicaciones1. Artículo de vidrio con un revestimiento superficial que comprende un sustrato de vidrio y un revestimiento de baja emisividad de capa múltiple que incluye las siguientes capas formadas en una superficie del sustrato de vidrio, de la superficie hacia el exterior:5 (1) una capa de un material dieléctrico transparente;

Procedimiento para realizar un artículo de vidrio con un revestimiento superficial que comprende el 35 revestimiento por pulverización catódica en una superficie de un sustrato de vidrio de un revestimiento debaja emisividad de capa múltiple que incluye las siguientes capas formadas en una superficie del sustrato de vidrio, de la superficie hacia el exterior:(1) una capa de un material dieléctrico transparente;(2) una capa de oxinitruro de silicio; 5 (3) una primera capa de níquel o nicromo;
- (4)
- una capa de plata;
- (5)
- una segunda capa de níquel o nicromo;
- (6)
- una capa de Si3N4.
- 8. Procedimiento según la reivindicación 7, en el que dicha capa de oxinitruro de silicio se forma mediante10 revestimiento por pulverización catódica en una atmósfera gaseosa que comprende nitrógeno, oxígeno y argón, en el que el oxígeno está presente en la atmósfera en una cantidad entre el 5 y el 50 %.
- 9. Procedimiento según la reivindicación 8, en el que el oxígeno está presente en la atmósfera en una cantidad de aproximadamente un 10 %.
- 10. Procedimiento según la reivindicación 9, en el que la atmósfera comprende aproximadamente un 30 % de 15 nitrógeno, aproximadamente un 10 % de oxígeno y aproximadamente un 60 % de argón.

- Procedimiento según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 7 a 10, en el que el revestimiento por pulverización catódica de la capa de oxinitruro de silicio incluye la utilización de un blanco de silicio que contiene aluminio.

- Procedimiento según la reivindicación 11, en el que el blanco incluye aproximadamente un 8 % en peso de aluminio.
