Improvements in apparatus for opening mobile curly or wavy continuous filament wicks, characterized by subjecting the wick to a tension insufficient to stretch the filaments, but sufficient to practically straighten the curl, and comprising a device for feeding the wick, a supply device thereof and, at least, a rotating opening member that deflects the wick from a straight path between the feeding and supply devices; the organ has two or more filament support surfaces, offset relative to each other, so that when the organ rotates, the wick filaments resting on one surface are separated from the filaments resting on another surface .
