Improvements in apparatuses for converting a filament web into a ribbon of stretched short fibers, characterized in that it comprises means for separating or dividing the filaments into short fibers; means for stretching the short fiber web and a mobile feeder web for holding and advancing the web of drawn short fibers; and by the combination of a helically ribbed cylinder, arranged at an angle with the direction of advance of the feeder belt and close to the support surface of the web, to convert the web into a web, and of means that fit into the webs.
