La invención se refiere a agentes terapéuticos para tratamiento de la septicemia, su preparación y empleo, con aplicaciones en la industria farmacéutica y en medicina. Estos agentes terapéuticos contienen como elemento esencial la proteína de unión a lipopolisacárido (LBP). La invención también se refiere a proteínas variantes, mutantes e híbridos de la LBP. Se emplea también la murina o LBP de conejo además de la LBP humana.
