Centrales mareomotrices de depósito. Son centrales cuyo objetivo es extraer la energía potencial de las mareas. Sus elementos son: un depósito en forma de tronco de pirámide invertido y conectado con el fondo marino por una tubería horizontal. El final de la tubería está rodeado por una torreta con orificios, para que pueda entrar y salir el agua y evitar accidentes y/o averías, y una caseta que contiene: turbinas-alternadores, grúas, compuertas, etc. Se pueden presentar dos casos; que la carrera de marea sea mayor de 7 metros, o bien, que la carrera de marea esté comprendida entre 4 y 7 metros. Estas centrales no requieren presa, ni bahías especiales, ni sufren por los temporales; sólo necesitan que haya carrera de marea y un gran depósito excavado en tierra, protegido por un dique y una pantalla.Tidal power stations.
