Abstract
La presente invención se dirige a satisfacer la necesidad de aumentar el índice de viscosidad de fusión de artículos de vidrio hueco para asegurar un enfriamiento más eficaz de los mismos, reduciendo así el ciclo de fabricación. Según la invención, la zona interna del artículo de vidrio hueco se atraviesa con un medio gaseoso caracterizado por una gran capacidad de absorción de la radiación de 2000 a 5000 nm. Puede hacerse uso por ejemplo de propano, metano, monóxido de carbono, dióxido de carbono o vapor de agua. El medio gaseoso puede alimentarse en un ciclo abierto o cerrado. El procedimiento de la invención encuentra aplicación para enfriar artículos de vidrio hueco en fusión, incluyendo todo tipo de artículos de vidrio hueco, tubos de vidrio de las más diversas formas y tubos catódicos.
