Abstract

A mixture of virgin and recycled wood is ground into chips and then converted into shavings for cold pre-pressing before a principle pressing step. A method for making layered board material for use in e.g. the furniture, packaging or construction industry, using a mixture of virgin and recycled wood, comprises the following steps : (a) grinding the wood to form homogenous chips (b) converting the chips into shavings (c) cold pre-pressing to form an initial board material (d) pressing under given pressure and temperature conditions (e) controlled cooling the board (f) optionally coating the board and (f) sanding, cutting and packaging.
