Abstract

The data collection system uses a fleet of floating cars, each collecting data at given time intervals, or after travelling defined distances, for transmission to the central traffic processor together with the position data for the vehicle. The operating conditions of different function unit onboard the vehicle, e.g. the brakes, the windscreen wipers, the hazard lights, the headlamps, or the fog lamps are monitored, with evaluation using given criteria, to provide data relating to the driving conditions transmitted to the central traffic control.
