Abstract

Procedimiento y aparato para la caracterización de sprays compuestos por partículas esféricas, mediante un láser (1) que genera un haz (2) que incide con el spray en coincidencia con el eje de abcisas (3) de un sistema cartesiano contenido en un plano de medida perpendicular al spray. Mediante sistemas ópticos (5-14) se registra la actividad de dispersión óptica generada por las partículas que se encuentran en la intersección del rayo láser y el volumen objeto del sistema óptico de recepción, en un ángulo que forma 90º con respecto a la dirección de propagación del rayo láser, así como el nivel de atenuación óptica experimentado por el rayo láser al pasar a través del plano de medida. Los sistemas ópticos (5 y 14) están acoplados a fotodetectores (10-18) y procesadores de señal (10"''-18"'') capaces de generar señales eléctricas proporcionales a las intensidades de luz recibidas. El aparato incorpora también un sistema de movimiento en dos direcciones para posicionar el spray en la direccióndel rayo láser y en su perpendicular, de modo que sea posible obtener una tomografía de la actividad de dispersión y atenuación del spray.
