Abstract

Low-power monostatic coherent lidar system for measuring linear and rotational velocity of solid targets. The prototype is presented for a Monostatic Coherent Lidar System (SLCM) 1 capable of measuring the velocity of solid targets up to a range R of about 17.5 m. The principle of operation is the detection of the Doppler shift produced in the frequency of the radiation dispersed by the rough surface of the target 2 illuminated by the system. The range of velocities which it is capable of measuring reaches up to about 160 km/hour. It uses a low-power HeNe laser, an optical system which allows conditioning and processing of the transmitted and received signals and signals from the local oscillator, a receiver with a photodiode and processing electronics which makes it possible to detect the Doppler frequency and, thus, the velocity of the moving object.
