EL PROCESO COMPRENDE LA PUESTA EN CONTACTO DE LA MUESTRA DE PLASMA QUE CONTIENE LOS ANTICUERPOS CONTRA UN VIRUS RESPIRATORIO CON EL VIRUS RESPIRATORIO. LA MEZCLA DE LA MUESTRA DE PLASMA Y EL VIRUS SE PONE EN CONTACTO ENTONCES CON UNA PLURALIDAD DE CELULAS. EL VIRUS RESTANTE NO NEUTRALIZADO EN LA MUESTRA SE DETERMINA A TRAVES DE UN INMUNOENSAYO QUE SIGUE A LA REPLICACION DEL VIRUS EN LAS CELULAS. LAS MUESTRAS DE PLASMA QUE, A UN VALOR DE ANTICUERPOS MINIMO, PRESELECCIONADO, EVITAN LA REPLICACION VIRAL EN LAS CELULAS PUEDEN SER SELECCIONADAS ENTONCES.
