Abstract

A self contained electronic lock with a proximity reader, in which proximity reader (3) has a self contained electricity supply unit based on electrical cells (4) designed to supply the energy required for the operation and maintenance of the digital circuits (3a) in a "standby" state of minimum consumption while waiting to come into operation, the reader unit (3) having an electric switch which, in the operation of presenting the proximity card (2), is actuated mechanically, causing the activation of the dormant digital circuits (3a) and consequent emission, by the coil-antenna (3b) integral with the reader unit (3), of the radio-frequency signal which feeds the chip (2a) of the card (2), so that, via the coil antenna, it will convey coded information to the reader unit (3) and possibly interact therewith.
