Abstract

Artificial procedure for inducing proteins linked with pathogenesis in the plant (Beta vulgaris) sacc. (sugar beet). A description is given of a procedure for artificially inducing the appearance inter alia of glucanase and chitinase enzyme activities in the leaves of plants, in particular of the sugar beet (Beta vulgaris), consisting in the topical application by spraying of a solution in water of 5 mM of hydrogen peroxide, 5 mM of salicylic acid, 4 mM of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole or compounds that produce said peroxide as a result of the degradation thereof. The most immediate application of the procedure is to enhance the natural resistance of the plant treated, in particular of the sugar beet (Beta vulgaris), to fungal and viral pathogens and thus prevent said agents infecting crops of the plant treated.
