Abstract

A torsion damper comprises friction means 17 to 19 and a support disc such as a clutch plate 2 which is fixed to at least one guide ring 8. The support disc 2 is extended radially inwardly to define a transversely extending central portion 25, which is offset axially by inclined portions 27 from a root zone (26, fig 7) in the general plane of the support disc 2, so that the latter thus has a dished shape. The central portion 25 is thus enabled to engage frictionally via friction means 17 to 19 against a damper plate 9. The friction means 17 to 19 comprises a resilient thrust ring 15 fixed to the guide ring 8 by axial fingers 16 and pushed into axial engagement by resilient ring portion 18 and 19. Resilient means 6, eg a spring, is provided in windows (30, fig 7) in the central and inclined portions. The spring also acts on the guide ring 8 and the damper plate 9 which move relative to each other within the limits of a predetermined angular displacement. A bearing 20 may be placed between a hub 3 and the guide ring 8.
