Abstract

Process for the enzymic manufacture of various penicillins in accordance with principal patent No. 8902421 lodged on the 10 July 1989. Comprises incubating, using the same reaction as in the principal patent, a coupled enzyme system comprising the enzymes phenylacetyl- CoA ligase from Pseudomonas putida and the acyl-CoA: 6- APA acyltransferase enzyme of Penicillium chrysogenum and, as substrates, the following compounds: 6-amino- penicillanic acid, ATP, CoA, MgCl2, DTT and other precursors of the side chain of different penicillins. The invention has application in the biochemical preparation of antibiotics derived from the benzyl penicillin obtained in the said principal patent.
